Key consequences of climate change for Scotland include increased risk of extreme weather events and flooding

These impact ‘many aspects of our natural environment and our society, including buildings and property, health, agriculture, forestry, transport, water resources and energy demand.’ (Adaptation Scotland)

Being as prepared as possible for extreme weather, and knowing who can help and how to respond if you’re affected is a really important part of how communities can be resilient in the face of our changing climate.

WEATHER

In the Winter of 2023 devastating storms hit Angus, with the Angus Community enduring record breaking rain fall, floods, and tides, affecting lives, jobs and homes. The Angus Climate Hub began the Storm Angus Project in an effort to collect the experiences that the people of Angus were happy to share, to create a community record of these events.

What's the hub doing?

Angus Council have established a Community Resilience Forum, which meets on a quarterly basis, bringing together established community resilience groups, village hall committees, community councils and new formed groups with an interest in developing plans for emergencies and disruptions. This forum is community based and led by the communities who attend.

Angus Council also has a dedicated Flood Recovery Support page and a space for Brechin beyond the flood.
