We travel to work, to school, and all the other places we need to be. And it’s not just people, but our resources too - even our carrots can clock up hundreds of miles between farm gate and plate. All of this transport has big implications for pollution and climate.
Increasing sustainable transport and active travel is key to reducing CO2 emissions, but can also improve health and reduce inequalities. Read on to find out what support and advice is available to you here in Angus, and how you can make the shift to walk, bike and wheel more!

TRANSPORT
Most of us travel A LOT.

In 2025, alongside 50 other Scottish organisations, Angus Climate Hub signed Cycling Scotland’s Joint Active Travel Manifesto for 2026. This calls for all political parties to enable more people to walk, wheel or cycle, ahead of the run up to the 2026 Holyrood election by committing to multi-year budgets, public transport, and improved road safety.
One of our partners since our inception has been Angus Cycle Hub - an award winning not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to supporting sustainable cycling and active travel through bike recycling, training and events. An early pilot project we ran was the ‘E-bikes for Carers’ scheme, supporting Angus carers to get around more easily and visit their clients.
Our lead partner Montrose Community Trust delivers a range of walking-based initiatives that support healthier lifestyles while encouraging more sustainable, low-carbon ways of moving around. Walking Football provides an inclusive and accessible way for people to stay active, particularly those who may feel excluded from traditional sport, by adapting the pace of the game. Walk and Talk offers a relaxed, informal opportunity for people to connect while walking together in and around Montrose - promoting gentle physical activity, reducing social isolation and supporting mental wellbeing

What's the hub doing?
