Growing, cooking, and eating connect us with nature and the outdoors, with family, neighbours and friends; and support our physical and mental wellbeing. Producing food, and growing for all sorts of valuable reasons, is at the heart of many communities, providing jobs, community and a way of life.
What we eat and how it’s made has a massive impact on our health and our land. In a changing climate erratic weather makes it harder to produce food, and can lead to rising costs. Those least able to take the shock are hit hardest. Everyone deserves to eat well - this means having access to plentiful, sustainable, affordable, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food.

FOOD
+ GROWING

Between 2023 and 2025, across Angus 12 groups benefitted from our Change for Good project funding for their food or growing projects.
In our most recent round in 2025-6, 8 groups benefited for food and growing projects ranging from seed saving to composting, from growing for pollinators to running a community food summit.
In 2025-6 we started working towards creating an active Food & Growing Network in Angus, and ran ‘Walk and Talk’ events in collaboration with Brechin Buccaneers and East Haven Together to celebrate and share their excellent work in growing for community food, biodiversity and ecosystem repair.
We successfully secured funding from Bioregioning Tayside to work with Appetite for Angus and Sustainable Kirriemuir to begin development of an Angus Local Food Plan, and attended the initial design workshop towards the development of a Tayside Community Food Growing Charter.
